Glass Walls and Doors has a wealth of experience of the installation of glass walls, with thousands of satisfied customers in every major town and city in the UK.

After undertaking a thorough, professional survey we re-confirm all the details to you, including any variation in price. The way we work is transparent. We want to make sure that you know exactly what we will supply & install and how much it will cost.

If you are happy with our confirmed quotation and make full payment, we will then organise an installation date with you. All works will be carried out during normal working hours (8am-4.30pm Monday to Friday). We can work outside of these hours on request. Out of hours charges will apply and will always be confirmed and agreed with you prior to doing so. Site specific Method Statements and Risk Assessments are available on request, following the site survey.

Glass Walls and Doors will always work closely with you and keep in close communication throughout the installation period. Here are some more specific details about how we work, to help with your planning for the new partitioning. If you have any questions or would like one of our friendly team to take you through it, just give us a call at any time.

The installation of partitions cannot take place until the site is free of all wet and/or dusty trades and any adjacent works completed. In the same way, the site must also be clean and dust free prior to the application of any manifestation. Failure to ensure this will delay the installation and Glass Walls and Doors cannot be deemed to be responsible. Additional charges may be issued if our fitters cannot start work on the date agreed. The installation of base, head & wall track profiles, abutments and door frames will be level and plumb, to facilitate both the measure and installation of the glazing and door sets. Track profiles will be installed straight, using packers where necessary. Any gaps behind track are to be infilled by others.

To fix perimeter track profiles and door pivots, we will need to mechanically drill and fix into your floor, ceilings and walls. Our experienced fitters will take the greatest of care, but we cannot be held responsible for damage to any concealed services or any resulting damage to the building, decoration, equipment or furniture. Therefore, the exact positions of pipework and cables etc, must be advised and marked by others prior to us fitting the perimeter track profiles. We also advise that it is your responsibility to establish the load bearing capacity of any floors or overhead structures onto which this equipment is to be installed. We do not include for any investigation, design or installation. Any necessary above ceiling works need to be designed and carried out by others.

We then install the glazing. Depending on the type of manifestation ordered, it may be installed at the same time, or otherwise approximately 1 week later. We will let you know beforehand, when planning the installation date.

Our fitters are clean and tidy and will clear away any waste. Our quotation is based upon you providing free of charge facilities for us to dispose of any materials arising at your site. Alternatively, if it is necessary for us to hire 8 cubic yard size waste skips, this would be charged at £200 + VAT each, extra to the price quoted. Please inform us prior to work commencing if we will be required to hire waste skips.

Our quotation, acceptance of an order and installation is based on the assumption that you have applied for and received Local Building Regulation approval, where required. We have also assumed that at the enquiry stage you will have informed us of the presence of any Asbestos in any part of your premises and provided us with sight of any Asbestos register, so that we can assess for risk before we commence any work in your building. All variations to an order or alterations after our site survey are subject to a separate quotation and will require an official instruction.

Any snagging required will commence upon receipt of written notification and emailed photographs. We would like to make you aware of the following quality guidelines issued by the Glass and Glazing Federation (GGF), which follow the industry standard visual quality criteria that we and our glass suppliers adhere to:

“Toughened safety glass shall be deemed acceptable if the following phenomena are neither obtrusive nor bunched: hairlines or blobs; fine scratches not more than 25mm long; minute imbedded particles. Obtrusiveness of blemishes shall be judged by looking through the glass, not at it, when standing at right angles to it on the room side at a distance of not less than 3 metres in natural daylight and not in direct sunlight. The area to be viewed is the normal vision area with the exception of a 50mm wide band around the perimeter of the glass. Pattern ghosting can occur on glasses with a textured finish.”

More information can be found on the GGF website. Please follow this link – www.ggf.org.uk/publication/quality_of_vision

We would be delighted to explain any of the information above. Give us a call on 0330 1331 851. Alternatively, please direct any questions you may have to our surveyor during the site visit.

HOW WE WORK

1. Plan your design

If you don’t have a layout drawing, make a simple plan sketch of the partitioning you would like, making a note of the dimensions including height(s).

2. BREAK INTO SIMPLE BLOCKS

Use our complex design guide shown below and consider how your plan may be broken down into more simple layouts. Most designs can be built using the wide variety of layout options we offer.

3. USE THE QUOTE CALCULATOR

Enter details of the simplified layouts into our online calculator to get an overall estimate. If you are happy, email us your complete project details, attach a sketch plus any comments and we will get back to you with a bespoke quotation.

4. REVIEW OUR QUOTATION

We will use your information to create an accurate estimate. This can be lower than the online price as duplication is removed. We send you a simple layout drawing to visualise what we are offering. If you are happy with it, you can then contact us to place an order and arrange a professional survey.
